FAQ

A set of our most frequently asked questions. If yours is not answered, please don't hesitate to send us an email or contact us via the chat below.

HOW DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR LABEL TO BE „TIMELESS, ARTISANAL AND RESPONSIBLE“?

We consider faible and failure as a label trying to improve working conditions in the fashion industry by embracing slowness, empowering the (mostly) women working in the industry, short supply chains and limited production on demand in order not to strain the environment even more. Lastly we work closely with our suppliers and source exclusively organic yarns and fabrics or vintage textiles to ensure the highest quality we can provide.

CAN I VISIT YOUR STUDIO/TRY ON IN PERSON?

Yes, of course you can and we’re happy getting to know you! Please drop us a line via hi@faibleandfailure.com to make an appointment or just stop by at our shop in Hamburg. opening times: tue - fri: 11am - 7pm sat: 12pm - 6pm

WHERE ARE YOUR GARMENTS MANUFACTURED AT?

All knitwear is handmade in Germany. Either by hand knitting or on a hand knitting machine in our studio in Hamburg or by one of our knitters. The vintage textiles are sourced mainly from recycling garment initiatives in Hamburg, travels and private sources (Grandma & friends). They’re hand crafted in Hamburg by our skilled taylors next doors. More information on the products is available in the specific product description.

CAN I HAVE THE KNITS CUSTOMIZED TO MY WISHES?

We also make knitwear on demand, you can choose freely from the colours available for the yarn type. If you're not decided yet, feel free to use our swatch service. You can of course also give specific measurements if you don’t like the standard sizes. To do that, please get in contact via hi@faibleandfailure.com.

If you've chosen your preferred knit already and just want to add some spice, have a look at our embroidered initials and wording here.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO MANUFACTURE A PRODUCT MADE TO ORDER?

Regular production time for your products made to order is 3 to 4 weeks. However, if you need your knitwear faster, please let us know and we’ll make it happen.

WHAT ARE SHIPPING TIMES AND COSTS?

Being a one-woman-show still, we try to ship as quick as possible if your desired product is on stock. If you order made to order, the lead times are given upon ordering.
Shipping in Germany is free, Shipping in EU is free from a minimum purchase of 300 Euros. Have a look here for our international shipping rates.

If you have the chance to pick up your order in our shop in Hamburg, we offer a 10 Euro discount. If so, please choose the pick up option upon checking out.

WITH WHICH CARRIERS TO YOU SHIP?

We ship with DHL GoGreen, meaning your parcels will be shipped exclusively by them within Germany. Outside of Germany they collaborate with local carriers. There will be a shipping number for you to follow the status of your parcel including insurance. DHL GoGreen is a project initiated by the Deutsche Post / DHL. GoGreen supports environmental projects with the supplement on regular shipping prices. By doing that they hope to neutralize the CO2-emissions emitted in the process of shipping your order.

WHAT PACKAGING DO YOU USE?

Our packaging is 100% plastic free. The boxes are made from recycled cardboard and have an automatic sticky closure. The shipping labels applied, as well as the stickers are recyclable and solvent-free. So is the postcard made of recycled paper and the packing paper to secure your knits from being damaged.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN I USE?

WHAT IS YOUR EXCHANGES, RETURNS AND REFUNDS POLICY?

We want you to be thrilled with your purchase and come back for more. If you're unhappy for any reason, please contact us at hi@faibleandfailure.com to initiate a return or exchange within 14 days of delivery.

DO YOU OFFER BRIDAL KNITWEAR?

Yes, we do! Please send us an email or visit our store. We have a range of customizable knits and are happy to advise you on the perfect fit made exclusively for you.

DO YOU WORK WITH CERTIFIED MATERIALS?

We do work with certified materials but not solely. In any case the materials we use are always mulesing free and the animals are always treated according to animal welfare rights. We can state if the fabric or yarn we use is certified but that doesn’t give the whole product a certification. To make that happen we’d have to have our workshop certified and that’s again a whole other story.

DO YOU USE SYNTHETIC FIBRES IN THE GARMENTS YOU PRODUCE?

All of the new materials we buy do not have any synthetic fibers. Also, the garment labels are made from 100% woven cotton, as well as the care labels. Sometimes we work with left over stock from wool shops, in this case there might be some synthetic fibers mixed but it will always be clearly stated.

HOW DO I WASH MY KNITWEAR PRODUCTS?

Most of our products (except for dead stock and vintage sometimes) are made from 100% natural materials which means smells won’t stick to them. If you spend a night in a bar or in a kitchen just put it on a hanger over night, inside will work just fine and outside is even better. It will be like new the next day. If you pull a thread, just pull it back in. I hung on to nails, dogs and knitting machine needles many times, not one single time did the yarn rip. If your sweater is stained partially, try to wash it partially. If you would like to wash your sweater, wash it (cold!) in the machine without tumbling or by hand (also cold!) with wool or silk washing liquid without heavy wringing, just “push” out the water carefully. Get rid of excess water by placing the sweater spread out on a dry towel and roll it. By pressing it a little you will get rid of most of the water. Spread it out in shape evenly and let it dry while lying down. The materials we use don’t pill. So you don’t need to brush or cut any knots off.

There are washing instructions in the care section for every product's decription.
